Job Description : Senior Project Manager - Stroke Rehabilitation Clinical Trials Manager

Clinical Research and Trials Unit

Hours: 37.5 per week

Band 8a £37,996 to £45,596 pa

This post will provide exceptional project management input across a programme of stroke rehabilitation clinical trials. The stroke rehabilitation trial programme is multi-centre and involves close working with universities and NHS Trusts across the UK.

In particular as post holder you will work on the SWIFT Cast study, a 3 year complex interventional study looking at the effects of recovery of walking after stroke funded through the National Institute of Health Research EME programme.

You will ensure that trials are developed, designed, implemented and delivered on time, are completed within budget and comply with the protocol and all relevant regulations. You will develop and implement systems for effective trial management; review staff deployment and allocation of funds for the programme of trials to ensure the most efficient deployment of resources; support and assist with the development of new trials and associated studies; and contribute to the statistical analysis, presentation, scientific publication and clinical service dissemination of research findings.

You will work to Professor Valerie Pomeroy (Professor of Neuro-rehabilitation, Director, Health & Social Sciences Research Institute at the University of East Anglia) who directs the Stroke Rehabilitation Research Programme.

You will be based in the University of East Anglia, Norwich with a secondary location in the Norwich Clinical Trials Unit (on the UEA site). Travel across the UK to manage trials within the stroke rehabilitation programme is essential and therefore temporary bases will be available as appropriate.

Requirements:

• Qualification in a clinical profession, registered for practice within the NHS with the appropriate organisation e.g. Health Professions Council and evidence of substantial clinical experience in stroke care and/or rehabilitation
• Significant post qualification experience
• BA/BSc, or equivalent, in an area relevant to health care
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent, in healthcare preferably with a research related component
• Experience of co-ordination of at least one clinical trial in an acute, rehabilitation or community healthcare setting
• Evidence of staff management experience
• Experience of working in a research related healthcare setting
• Project management experience
